Cairde Sligo Arts Festival Seeks Young People To Get Involved
Ever fancied running a festival or having a behind the scenes peek? Or wanted to bring your favourite musician or artist to Sligo? Now’s your chance.
Cairde Sligo Arts Festival (CSAF) returns from July 4th to the 12th 2020. As part of this year’s programme, Festival organisers are seeking to connect with younger audiences from across County Sligo.
Cairde Young Curators, is a major new initiative for the festival, focusing on those aged between 15 and 19 years. The Festival is currently inviting young people to join this new initiative and have their input on the Festival programme this summer.
The project will see a team of young curators work with the Festival team to program a special element of this year’s festival. The project will commence in mid February and run right up until the arts festival itself in July, where the young curators will meet, brainstorm ideas, research, explore, plan, document, get inspired and select their potential event. This event may come in the form of a live music gig, an interactive workshop, a visual art exhibition or none of the above – most importantly the ideas will come from the team – Giving a younger audience an opportunity to have their say in what is on offer during the arts festival.
If you would like to join this group, Cairde Sligo Arts Festival invites you to send in a short statement saying why you would like to be involved by Monday the 3rd of February to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Cairde Young curators is supported by The Arts Council of Ireland.

Sligo Dance Experiences
Every Thursday starting on 19/9 until 17/10/2019 (join us any Thursday you like) @ 7:30 - 9 pm
Together, we are going to meet and experience the joy of MOVEMENT and DANCE in variations of movement exercises drawn from Contemporary Dance (mainly Release Technique) and guided Dance Improvisations with integration of Somatic Dance Practice – Guided Imagery. Within our Dance Experiences we will have a chance to work individually same as in duets/trios or in a group.
Release Technique: we will use this technique as a warm-up exercise to activate our body awareness, release muscle tension and use the gravity and momentum to facilitate efficient movement.
Dance Improvisation: will benefit spontaneous movement of each individual mover within the exploration of self-expression and connection to others. We will also deepen the art of improvisation through various dance dynamics in relation to body, time and space.
Guided Imagery: we will look at imagery-based regeneration such as constructive rest and rest session with possible touch to indicate the location and direction of image, to increase sensory awareness in an area of the body or enhance the effect of an image.
Please wear comfortable clothing to move freely, water to drink and some yoga mat/blanket for guided imagery relaxation within the end of Dance Experience.
Advance booking is essential!
Investment: €50 for full 5 weeks or pay as you go €12.

Following the success of our Christmas market "Conscious Christmas Bazaar" we are delighted to announce we will be returning to The Nest on a monthly basis beginning this month.

We were thrilled with the response to our Christmas event and the number of people that braved the wet winter day to visit the market and are really looking forward to working with The Nest to create a home to what we hope will be a warm community of vendors and visitors passionate about a different way of shopping.
We are seeking applications for vendors in the following areas: design, craft (including but not limited to ceramics, woodcraft, jewellery), fine art, publishing, fashion & apparel, preloved & vintage items, eco goods, artisan food.
